Words of Wisdom

"Always it is easier to pay homage to prophets than to heed the direction of their vision. It is easier blindly to venerate the saints than to learn the human quality of their sainthood. It is easier to glorify the heroes of the race than to give weight to their examples. To worship the wise is much easier than to profit by their wisdom. Great leaders are honored, not by adulation, but by sharing their insights and values. Grandchildren of those who stoned the prophet sometimes gather up the stones to build the prophet's monument. Always it is easier to pay homage to prophets than to heed the direction of their vision."--Clinton Lee Scott in his "The Prophets"

"If there is no struggle there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground, they want rain without thunder and lightening. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one, or it may be a physical one, and it may be both moral and physical, but it must be a struggle. Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will. Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them, and these will continue till they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress. In the light of these ideas, Negroes will be hunted at the North, and held and flogged at the South so long as they submit to those devilish outrages, and make no resistance, either moral or physical. Men may not get all they pay for in this world; but they must certainly pay for all they get. If we ever get free from the oppressions and wrongs heaped upon us, we must pay for their removal. We must do this by labor, by suffering, by sacrifice, and if needs be, by our lives and the lives of others."--Frederick Douglass

"The bondage of human ignorance is breakable only when we stop being human. To know everything is to know nothing, and to see everything is to be blind. To know perfection is to embrace faults, and always realize that none of these can exist without the other. And when this happens, you shall find peace. For heaven isn’t eternally blissful, because heaven is this awareness. The awareness that Light cannot be without Dark, that Relief can not come before Pain. Your world is what you make it, you are who you are willing to become. Drop your contempts for everything that’s different than you are, and realize that this diversity made you who you are in the first place. And always remember that the most powerful force of all is love. For without that and compassion, there is nothing. "-Me

"Be generous in prosperity, and thankful in adversity. Be worthy of the trust of thy neighbor, and look upon him with a bright and friendly face. Be a treasure to the poor, an admonisher to the rich, an answerer of the cry of the needy, a preserver of the sanctity of thy pledge. Be fair in thy judgment, and guarded in thy speech. Be unjust to no man, and show all meekness to all men. Be as a lamp unto them that walk in darkness, a joy to the sorrowful, a sea for the thirsty, a haven for the distressed, an upholder and defender of the victim of oppression. Let integrity and uprightness distinguish all thine acts. Be a home for the stranger, a balm to the suffering, a tower of strength for the fugitive. Be eyes to the blind, and a guiding light unto the feet of the erring. Be an ornament to the countenance of truth, a crown to the brow of fidelity, a pillar of the temple of righteousness, a breath of life to the body of mankind, an ensign of the hosts of justice, a luminary above the horizon of virtue, a dew to the soil of the human heart, an ark on the ocean of knowledge, a sun in the heaven of bounty, a gem on the diadem of wisdom, a shining light in the firmament of thy generation, a fruit upon the tree of humility"--Gleanings of the Writings of Baha'u'llah.

My Poetry

A Walk with the Goddess

I walk the stars to find the truth,
In the darkness of all your lies
And you stand there, burdened, aloof
With crystal tears in your eyes.
The question to you I repeat,
And once again you’re quiet,
Take yourself away from the busy street
Learn my name, know it, and cry it.
Leave all Pain behind and come
Come with me into the night
Come to me to where I am from
And let us vanish from all mortals’ sight.
When we’ll arrive, I shall ask you once more
To give me all I need,
Open to me your heart and I’ll open the door
To the Universe and the constellations you can read.
We embark on the journey to my Home
And face the perils in our way,
And be guided by Love’s Tome
And hear what My angels say.
And we shall sing songs
Of Light and Love and Darkness and Sorrow
And discover the things for what one longs
To have today or tomorrow.
But keep in mind this rule,
Above all else, this one now:
Love each other now and forever,
For everything returns times three
Good or bad you shall see what you give
Is what you shall receive unto thee.
And in the farthest of your mind
I shall know all I crave,
But I want it in word of your kind
Or you shall take it your grave.
But no worries, my Child,
My Child of the Divine,
My love for you is eternal
Everything I have given you was once Mine.
Finally we reach my home, in the vastness of the stars,
Come, come inside
See the galaxy here and those afar
And the great heros of ancient times who died.
Now I ask you, give me my truth.
Then you say to me:
“My secret to you is this,
I am imperfect, and I fall and curse Your name.
And perfection is what I want. It is my claim.
I respond to your plea:
By Fire I gave you Life,
By Water I have made you grow,
By Air I hear your cry
By Earth you shall return to me
And by Spirit you shall live in happiness.
But not all shall see what you do.
So let wear their anks and crosses,
Let them gain their wins and count their losses
And they shall come here
For there never is a pit of burning pain and sindered coal.
For your arrival is not based on your beliefs, but the purity of your soul.

What's in a Tear?

What’s in a tear?
Everything, anything.
Every tear one sheds,
Another ounce of wisdom is gained,
Another lesson is learned,
And another trial has been passed.
From tears of sadness to those of love,
Every tear has its
Place in your Universe,
And as each tear falls from your face,
A Star falls from your Sky.
And within that tear
Is the Love of your Soul.
So let your tears flow,
And let your love be known.
Never wish to stop crying,
Because to stop crying is to stop growing,
And when one stops growing,
Only then is his life not worth living.
May the learning never stop,
May the tears never cease to flow.
And may Love never leave us.
